Rebekah Brackett

Rebekah Brackett is an artist and advocate of the arts community. Rebekah grew up in Nova Scotia and British Columbia. Her experiences of living on both coasts (both culturally and physically) is often reflected in her art work. Rebekah has work shown in both private and public collections in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Rebekah was born in Calgary, Alberta and belongs to the Piikani Nation (Aapátohsipikáni). 

 

Rebekah has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Fraser Valley where she focused in painting and drawing, sculpture and new media arts. Rebekah is also a counsellor and graduated from Yorkville University with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. 

 

Rebekah believes that she has a responsibility to be present, lend her voice and be an advocate to the social atmosphere and current movements that are happening. As an indigenous woman, she hopes that by sharing her art work will help inspire other artists who face barriers and challenges to show their work as well. Rebekah currently resides in S'olh Téméxw (Fraser Valley, British Columbia) with her husband Shawn, their two cats, Thorn and Francis, and two dogs, Wednesday and Friday.

 

Rebekah is influenced by nature, music and her family and friends. 

 

Rebekah is located on the territory of the Stó:lō peoples and gratefully acknowledges her ability to live, work and create on this territory.

Rebekah teaches art classes, skill shares as well as facilitates independent art lessons and is open to virtual art lessons.
